Onkyo TX SR606 Or Sony STR-DA2400 ES

Looking for an amp to go with Sony PS3 and Sony KDL-32W4000.

Would prefer the Sony unit but cant find anyone with stock in black.

Is the onkyo a good buy or is it worth waiting for the sony to come back in stock

The 606 is a perfectly respectable amp. Recently (yesterday) I was in the market for an amp in this price bracket. Would have considered the 606 except I've already got an Onk in a different room and wanted to try a different manufacturer. Went for the Sony in the end but in Silver. The colour doesn't offend me, these things are cyclical

I was looing at exactly the same and didnt want to wait for a Black sony. Was not disapointed, pound for pond the Onkyo delivers on all fronts in my view.

Taking salesmen with a grain of salt, all (5 different retail stores of differing ability) placed the Onkyo over the Sony even when the Onkyo was significantly cheaper.

Listening to the 2 was difficult to compare back to back given the poor presentation rooms avaiable so a differnece was not obviously discernable.

At the end of the day I went with the brand (onkyo) with the longer reputation, the excellent reviews from several different countries and last (and least) the recommendations of the salemen. Sounds fantastic by the way.
