Onkyo TX-SR507 - zone2 issues

Hi,

Have my Mac Mini (Windows MCE) connected to the Onkyo via optical cable. Outputs sound fine to 5.1 speakers however, I cannot seem to get sound to output to the zone 2 speakers. I believe I have followed instructions but no sound from zone 2. Zone 2 speakers are connected directly to Onkyo in zone 2 speakers inouts and I have activated the Zone 2 through the menus. Optical input has been set to AUX but have tried other settings. Any ideas?

Answer: Zone 2 will only output from analog sources!! Why do they put this info in the fine print!

Hi ear,

Normally I'd say connect both the digital and analog outputs to the Onkyo, keeping 5.1 in your main zone and analogue for the 2nd - but since the mac mini uses a combined output you can't get both signals out at the same time AFAIK.
If you could find an optical -> analogue converter that also passes the digital signal through that could be the way to go...

The below "analogue" issue is why I am "downgrading" from an SR605 to a SR308 - because I want Speaker A/B rather than Zone 1/2!
