Hi,

Whcih speakers are better match for the Onkyo Tx-NR808:

1) Monitor Audio

BX5 as front,

BX2 as rear,

BX Center,

BXW10 Subwoofer.

or

2) B&W

685 as front,

686 as rear,

HTM62 Center,

ASW610 Subwoofer

Unfortunatly I cannot hear any demos for the two systems.

Hi Omar

Will you also use the system for listening to music? If so, what do you and anyone else who is also likely to use the system generally listen to?

What kind of presentation are you looking for the system as a whole to reproduce?

Fwiw, you may be interested to know that Onkyo (UK) often do tend to use Monitor Audio speakers at shows.

All the best

I have the old fashioned version of your setup, BR's and 805 amp. I think you may find the BX2 as over kill for the rear, I would go for the BX1 and save your self some money. I demoed the BR5 agains the 685, and left with the MA's.

thank you Rick and Paul for your replies :),

Well I'll be usuing the system mainly for Home cinema... and rarely for music

My consern is will the B&W produce more sound details when watching movies??

and Will the MA handle/produce more sound power (clearer sounds on high volumes)???

Cheers,

IMO the B&W set up would produce the best sound with the Onkyo AVR ( and I'm a big MA fan).

I felt the 685 were cleaner sounding than the BR5, but thinner. The BR5s wernt quite as detailed, but the gains in bass far out weighed the losses in detail in my opinion. For AV with a honking great sub, this is a moot point.

I think the 685 would make a better AV package, but I prefer the BR5 for Music. If your priority is AV, go with the 685.

Hello Omar,

I have an Onkyo 905 and I use the B&W 685 Theatre and I upgraded the sub to the B&W ASW 610. When we play movies (Bluerays or DVDs) the sound is immersing, dynamic and brimming with detail and so enjoyable! The dialogue has clarity and when the bullets fly in Quantum of Solace in the Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo car chase even the cat ducks the bullets! I can see why it has won 3 awards. Buy the B&Ws you will not be disappointed just enjoy movies, music and TV programmes.

Best Wishes

Chris

Thank you Ppl....

I decided to go with the B&W 685 theater with the ASW610 subwoofer....

Will let you know about the result :) although it's quite clear what quality sound I'll get :D

Cannot wit :) the problem I live in Amman Jordan, and there's no B&W speakers in Amman :)

But I'll buy them from dubai :)

Cheers :)
