My new Onkyo 606 is sat tin a cabinet without anything hooked up. It is waiting for my speaker wire before I even think about adding the hdmi's etc. I had left it plugged in (still no wires in it) and on standby. I was amazed to find it red hot last night. Is this right? If so... how you you conserve power with one if it uses so much when doing NOTHING! Surely I don't have to hit the mains switch every night, or when it is not in use?! What is the point of standby mode?! Or... have I been daft and missed something here???? I know chargers stay hot when they are not charging, but this thing wasn't powered on, and the standby setting must do something!!!!
