Onkyo AVR Sound Signature... Is it changing...?!?

Hi guys,

Has anyone compared the Onkyo AVRs across past to current generations ? Has the Onkyo sound with the 09 Series become much less "Bright & Lean" then the 08,07 and older series...?

Not heard a 9 series, but thought the 805 and 808 sound very similar
