Onkyo 818 Rear USB port

Hi all.I am able to play music content stored on my 500gig 2.5in external drive when plugged into the front usb port of my Onkyo 818 but get a "no storage" message when I plug it into the rear usb port.However, small capacity usb flash drives work ok on either port.Is there a difference in specs between the 2 usb ports,or is my amp faulty, anyone?

There can be variances between them, though it should specify in the manual.

Hi, the rear USB port can only supply 0.5 of an amp which is enought current to power a flash drive but not enough to power a HDD you will need to use an external power supply if that opton is available to you.
