Sky connected through optical and ps3 via new QED Performance HDMI cables.

Please advise whats the best settings to watch films on sky and the ps3 and games im not to sure whats best.

The settings you can sellect are:

All Ch St

Full Mono

Theatre Dimensional

PLII Movie

Neo:6 Cin

Mono Movie

Tv Logic

Kind of like Neo:6 And All Ch St but not sure if im getting best from my setup and whats these other settings best for.

I wouldn't use any of those settings for films on Sky or PS3 or games: I'd let the receiver decode whichever soundtrack is being sent, and not add any extra processing.

Your signature says 605 but your topic says 606. So which is it?

With regular dvd's, my amp usually defaults to Dolby Digital or Neo:6, whilst with blu-rays, you will get either DTS-HD MSTR or Tru-HD showing on your amp.

mike0619:i don,t understand how you do that

See manual p78: just assign to each kind of input the default value - eg DTS HD for DTS HD, Dolby True HD for Dolby True HD and so on...

You need to check under the audio settings that each kind of input is set to be decoded by the appropriate decoder. It should be so as a default. After that you can leave the receiver to sort itself out.

As a rule of thumb. The more little icons that light on the Onkyo, the better the sound.
