Hi your help would be appreciated with a problem i have, kit is

sony KDL 40w2000 LCD

PS3 60G

onkyo 506 amp

Keff 1005 speakers

The problem is when the PS3 is connected via HDMI to the amp and all resolutions are selected ie auto settings in the video menu, when a bluray movie is played there is no image. However if the custom video settings on the PS3 are accessed and 1080p is de-selected then the movie is played with no problem, should the amp be able to pass through the 1080p signal to the tv or is the max resolution 1080i. At present this is a little anoying as the PS3 has to be connected to the tv and so channel swaping is required if the PS3 is needed.

Thanks in advance :)

Can't see what the problem is - the signal should just go straight through.

Are you using other SD sources into the receiver, which need to be upconverted/upscaled?

If not, I'd set the Onkyo's video output to 'Through' - manual, p80 - and see whether that solves the problem.

In fact I'd try this, and also turn off the RIHD control (p81) and TV control (p82), as I suspect this is due to either an erroneous HDMI-CEC signal being sent somewhere along the line, or a failure of the HDMI HDCP handshaking with 1080p signals from the PS3 via the Onkyo to the TV.

It may not be a fault in the receiver - it could just as well be an incompatibility in the PS3 or TV.
