yes I quoted myself on the topic of Cyrus prices raises. When I say "oh-oh" What I mean is, "is this a trend"? Hi-Fi warehouses Im sure are taking hits due to the economy, is this making up for the loss or going to push some out more.

I hope its not a trend and just a few companies having to push.

Cuckoo defiantly comes to mind after reading that one!!!

Im just wondering how long before it all comes out and others follow suit. This is the opposite of the auto industry where you can name your price and they'll pretty much take it but Hi-Fi going up.

Have you been in the bath for the last 4 months or something? Cyrus aren't the first, they're just the latest in an increasingly long line of manufacturers to bump their prices up, have a scan back through the News section, they're all in there...

Totally different industries and situations. The car industry players all have gigantic levels of stock which they can't shift. Hifi manufacturers work around much smaller production runs with little "spare" stock and new products out pretty much every year. Just look at Yamaha and the issues around the (non-)availability of their AV receivers.

True. But take their CD-S700. £400 at launch earlier this year and now around £280 - £290 despite some excellent reviews.

(CD-S1000 and A-S1000 also both about £100 down on launch prices and also well received in most reviews.)

Rega prices are all still the same. (Actually down a smidge due to VAT change)

I managed to get a total of £166 off my Naim CD5i/Nait 5i pair (lower than pre-April prices) because there was no stock other than the demo pair. (I did not suggest a price but left it to the dealer to make the offer. He actually went lower than the figure I had in mind!)

It is always worth asking.

"Only" 3 Stars on here. Could it have meant lower than expected sales in return? says the cynic in me...
