Really enjoyed the men's relay a couple of days ago, and Leon Marchand has been absolutely stellar.

But it's the athletics I'm really looking forward to. Starts Friday, I believe.

Apparently (at least a day or so ago) it was our best start ever. Given how well we did in 2012, that surprises me. Interesting that the Americans haven't started as they might have hoped - lots of not-quite-Golds. I seem to recall a few years ago that the US was showing its medal table based upon total medals (rather than the usual most-gold first) as this put them at the top - the usual method didn't.

Beeb still making a pig's ear out of it. Say what you are showing and say what's on iPlayer. Otherwise people end up watching repeats whilst there are live events on, and have no idea what's actually coming up - it's astoundingly frustrating having to keep dipping in and out of the streams to find what you are hoping to watch. Not good enough.

Interesting how many world records still stand from the late eighties/early nineties. The WR for the women's shot would have won silver in the men's event yesterday - missing out on sharing the gold by only 27cm. Hard not to conclude with many of these long-standers that it wasn't all down to talent and application...

I'm bored with the Olympics and sport. Err indoors has watched tennis at Queens club, Eastbourne and Wimbledon. Now she watched the tat on the Olympics: archery, swimming, dressage....then she watches the repeats. When has dressage and archery become a sport? The only thing I watch are some of the field events.

my favourites been Female beach volley ball female Hand ball . Now handball most of you have never heard of it . it is very fast can be quite violent they introduced no fighting and punching rules now ( what a shame) but plenty of injuries elbows in the face and groin trip ups smashing into each other like rugby . seen it all but one match was terrible 8 years back ? when Croatia played Serbia fights kicking broken arms punches in the face one head serious head injury added by the fights between the team players not on the field in the end the match was abandon all the ladies are tall and run very fast too

Really pleased for Keely Hodgkinson, but the women's team sprint at the velodrome was stellar - broke the WR in qualifying, the heats and then the final. Can't ask (or indeed hope) for more than that!
