Can someone help me understand the difference here between the old Qed HDMI-P cable and the new Qed HDMI-P cable. I am going to purchase three sets and there is a price difference in Amazon of £10.00 for the old one and new. What Hi Fi said It has managed to take its Award-winning, budget HDMI-P cable and make significant improvements. There’s more copper, increasing the thickness for all cores and improving the connections between the now solid-purple cable and its new, plugs. While HiFi cables say. HDMI-P RE-BRANDING: QED have re-branded the HDMI-P and renamed it the Performance HDMI. In all respects it is identical apart from name and packaging. As stocks of the HDMI-P cable are exhausted we will be shipping the new Performance HDMI. Can someone from what Hi Fi confirm the new cable is an up-grade over the old one as Hi Fi cables has confused me.

I think the confusion may come from the fact that QED rebranded the HDMI-P as Performance HDMI and then did an upgrade, but i've asked QED for clarification.

Thanks for that Claire, will hold off until info comes through. Would be grateful if you could up-date the thread when you find out.

I need three new hdmi cables and the Qed is best in my budget.

That's a great deal what hi fi are offering unfortunately can't make the show :(

Hello I.D.C.

I'm pleased to report it's actually quite straightforward:

QED HDMI-P is the old (award winning) cable.

QED Performance HDMI is the new, even better cable, with heavier gauge cores and improved plugs and connection.

Very best regards,

Hi I.D.C - I would just add to this that I had this very same issue just before Xmas when ordering this cable. I ordered what was clearly advertised as QED Performance HDMI so thought I was ordering the "new upgraded" cable. When it arrived it was identical in every way to the existing HDMI-Ps I aleady owned. Think Clare's earlier post now explains why but thought it worth mentioning as the supplier was the one mentioned in your original post.

Steve - I was led to believe that HDMI-P was simply renamed HDMI performance, and then a new HDMI Performance was brought out - is that the case?

Hello 'Big Aura'.

Sorry, that's not the case. The new, improved cable 'Performance HDMI', simply replaced the older 'HDMI-P' cable.

Having pointed that out, the older HDMI-P version is fully 1.3 1080P rated and can handle anything you can currently throw at it.

Best regards,

Steve
