Ok looks like it gonna be a choice between the 50" Panasonic, 55" Samsung or the 52" Sony then! Would of been great to get to Best buy to compare all 3 side by side but Thurrock is about 3.5hrs away!

Does anyone know when the Merry Hill one is gonna be opened as this is only 30 mins from me!

3D TV is not an advance in technology but rather a massive marketing exercise to resell us all a new TV. HD TV is coming to the end of it's marketing life , i mean HD TV is not new anymore so 3D fits the bill nicely. Don't be suckered in by the hype. Sorry to fan the flames of your excitement but i can't get excited about 3D.

well if the 50vt20 lives up to the hype

it certainly looks the one to go for , after all , its the second cheapest after the samsung 3d plasmas , comes with glasses , no viewing angle issues (probably quite important with 3d) and if , as is likely , it gets bundled with a pana 3d player at some point , you wont need to change your av receiver ..

makes a lot of sense to me , the rear led lcd 3d sonys look interesting though , but how much will they be ?

Don't think we haven't thought about it, but getting hold of the sets is like pulling teeth... plus there's not going to be a great deal of 3D software to play on them for a while, I suspect.

after seeing the samsung today i am going to wait longer for my tv. wasnt going to buy but think i will have to. i would like more info about 3d ie do i have to update my amp or just blu ray and will the tv's be better soon or is it a matter of the 3d players being better. I think its a really difficult time for anyone buying a new tv with their hard earned cash, i mean what to do and how much to spend and whether its worth it or not. to be honest im going round in circles after today and think WHF need to clear the muddy waters a bit if they can to let us know a bit more about what they think we should do ?? thats if they have a clue ??

slewis:If you are buying a new 3D tv you will need a new amp, blu-ray player & HDMI lead.not if you use a panasonic 3d player , you need the tv , but can use any existing hdmi equipped av receiver..

Max - the pana vt20 is already being bundled with the 3d bluray at Bennetts electical in my local town £2490 for both together, classed as a saving of £400 over seperate price. they didnt have a set but he showed me the orders on the system of around 40 sets across east anglias 4 stores, they are in most stores to see now and by next Saturday ''will be everywhere'' . Apparently people are placing orders as soon as they see it. The hype is building around this tv as the anecdotal reviews are that the set is simply astounding in all aspects

I guess will have to get the bundle as I want to see the 3d from day one and sky will be a couple of months

yeah looking forward to a review of the new Samsung 3D Plasma's,to see how they compare against the Panasonic 3D Plasma's,

The Samsung 3D LCD TV came out second to the Panasonic 3D Plasma according to the Gizmodo website,

So I am hoping the Samsung 3D Plasma fairs better,

I managed to get a demo of the Panasonic 3d Plasma the other day,it was very impressive but they only had the one 3D

demo playing and that was Marine Fish swimming around Corals etc...

I guess will have to get the bundle as I want to see the 3d from day one and sky will be a couple of monthsso , you can get a 50in 3dtv with kuro tech , a panasonic bluray player that works with current hdmi cables and av receivers and two pairs of glasses for £2490 ??

apart from the samsung 3d plasmas , there isnt even one 50in 3d lcd you can get for the same money afaik , thats before you add on another £300 for glasses , and lets say £450 for a 3d amp , oh , and £400 for a 3d bluray player , and some 1.4 spec hdmi leads £60 ..

thats around £3600 for an equivalent lcd setup from samsung , sony , possibly lg

even knocking £500 off that to allow for discounts , possible bundles , its much more expensive , better ? could be , but i wouldnt think so , but thats just speculation your honour

I think the price is a killer punch from Panasonic over Samsung LCD I'd never go to £3k+ for a TV

Will be interesting to see how Currys persuade their punters to go for the Samsung for an extra £1k!!! over the Pana.

U can get the 55" Samsung from Costco for £2175 inc VAT.
