Its very interesting, even sometimes exhausting for newbie like me to explore sound nirvana. Every time, If I had a change, I will explore & read hifi mag, for new review & new science to help me find nirvana I want. Currently, I think is the best time for me to upgrade my equipment. And for that kind of reason also, I need all of audio expert & lover to help me to solve one issue I have.

For me, its quite difficult to setup proper & serious listen room. Its not because budget, but simply I can not sit & do nothing, only to hear the music. Therefore, I need to setup hifi equipment on my family room (in the middle of 1st floor of my house), next to kitchen, study & living room. With this arrangement, I can still do anything when the music is playing, though most of time my ear (or at least 80% of its capability) will concentrate to the music.

On the other, when browsing product or read hifi magz, I always see all the hifi equipments are made & intended to produce at their best on serious listening room. So, it leave me with question; How to choose the good or awesome equipment combination for my need & taste?

I like various music (classic, voice, bigband, jazz, rock, metal & hiphop). I like to have tight deep bass, mid warm & detail full high. I like to have spacious, good staging & detail. My house have open space design, so no real barrier between room, specially on 1st floor. For budget, I don't mind to spend more.

Again, need help from all of you. And every comment will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Though

hi tough, you will probably get more replies to this if you post it in the 2 channel section. it would also be helpful to know your budget, and whether you would prefer floorstanders or standmount speakers.

Dual Concentric Drivers such as used by Kef/Tannoy and some others are meant to be less directional. Depending on what you need you could also consider a good multi-room system.

As drummerman said what about something like a Sonos set up. You could have a bit of hifi in the living room with a cd player (ora NAS) connected to a ZP90 or ZP120 and then either one S5 to move around or multiple S5s in different rooms. That way ou could use party mode and have the music coming out of more than one device in sync as you move around the house. Logitech Squeezebox or the new Raumfeld sytem are alternatives.

The reason I am not consider Sonos or other multiroom setup, is due open space design of my room. And I don't like the idea, 2 people can playing 2 different music at same time on my house, believe me It will like horror on carnaval site.

Btw. Since Andrew eagerly wants to kick me out from here, I will continue recommended room. Thank you all for replies

Cheers,

You have said a lot but also haven't give us an inkling of what you want to spend or the type of system you want i.e streamed or sources.

Would 10k be a good starting point for funds?

No-one's trying to kick you out, Tough - just moving your thread to somewhere it's more likely to get replies.
