Oddities of traditional British snacks.

Only in Britain you'll find these quirky snacks.

I remembered the sawdust floors visiting the Pie and Mash shop in Tower Road near Southwark, we would skip school lunch time meals and head to the pie and mash shop. That lovely green liquor with a dashing's of malt vinegar and steamy hot mince pies.... so so nice, not sure there are any pie shops left.

Looks absolutely revolting!

I hope that was a mice(d meat as in beef etc) pie and not a mincemeat pie as in er, um, Xmas!

Pie and peas for me. Got to be marrowfat peas

Few years ago, we were at Thurston Sands Devon, outside fish restaurant pub overlooking the coastline.
We had a plate full of John Dory and chunky chips, washed down with Scrumpy on tap, oh it was heavenly!

Talking of scrumpy on tap - In my youf we often frequented a couple of pubs in Clifton, Bristol which were very basic to say the least - the Clifton Tap and The Coronation Tap I recall - and they both had scrumpy on tap (obviously, from the name!) and one served what appeared to be a slightly greenish fluorescent pint (held up to the light) cloudy and with floating bits in it! It was quite potent though!

Sadly, I can't even touch any form of cider of sparkling wine these days - my digestive system does not oblige!
