How is it connected to the receiver??

If I remember from other posts (I have Virgin) it needs to be connected using Optical rather than HDMI to get the surround info as HDMI just sends a stereo signal.

Hi,

Have you assigned the amp to accept the video signal from HDMI and sound from the optical?

Have you also checked the SKY settings and that DD is set to output over optical?

Not all programmes are in 5.1 - make sure you have a DD signal when checking.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Not all HD programs broadcast in full 5.1 have you checked all HD channels? best to check a Film on Sky Box Office or Live Prem football on SkySports

thanks for the advice,i have noticed that the amp was not assined to the optical.
Iam now getting surround sound when watching a dd program on sky,but no sound from rears when watching something which is not dd,is this correct, because when i had my rears connected to the bi-amp surr on amp i was getting sound on all programs, thanks in advance.

When watching something that is not DD or in surround then you should not get any sound out of the rears. However, you may have been getting sound before because it was also sending the front left and right sounds to the rears if they were set up in Bi-Amp mode.

Hi canada16,have you checked the connections on rear of amp as my amp confused me because when i had it new the factory setting was on bi-amp so when i connected speakers to surr,no sound, but when connected to bi-amp surr the speakers worked it wasnt untill i moved the amp into another room and started to play with different settings that i discovered it was setup wrong!

Can only assume your using a Dolby Digital Pro Logic setting on your amp, which will create 5.1 surround from a stereo soundtrack.
