Having retuned my father's set top freeview box (following the onscreen notice to retune on the 24th March and again on the 7th April) he now can't get BBC1 or BBC2. I've retuned my sister's Humax and now she can't get beeb 1 or 2 either. What's going on guys?

Having had no replies to the above, perhaps I ought to rephrase the question:

Has anyone else had a problem with the freeview retune? Does anyone know of any issues with the freeview retune? If the problem had only occurred with one set top box, then I would think that it was a problem with that box, but it's happened with two boxes (completely different makes/models).

Anyone?

This is a Glitch that has been mentioned previously. You should try a factory reset on both boxes. Good Luck. Sure Dave 75 will correct me if i am wrong.

As Rod says try a factory reset first, then retune(you may need to go through the retune process several times to find all the channels).

The other thing to try is, disconnecting the aerial then doing a retune whilst still disconnected(this will clear the memory of all channels) then reconnect the aerial and retune again.

Yep.sods law I guess. One thing though, when you go into the menu it might not list it as factory reset; some call it Shipping Condtion. If so choose that.As you can see, Dave has as also given you Plan B. okay

Hi daveyjay, you living in the Mendip region? I did 16 freeview retunes yesterday, mostly for elderly residents in the home where my missus works. Luckily most had reasonably uptodate Samsung TVs with built in freeview so quite easy. I did come across your problem with one set though. Old TV with a Bush freeview box. Did the retune, all looked well, thought I'd finished. Hour later I heard that BBC1 and 2 no longer there. Did it all again, took a deeper look at the menu choices under the 'Save' banner and found one marked up as 'replace existing channel line-up' Selected that and saved and all now OK. Looks like the stb had reverted back to its original tuning state when I first did it. Might be something which could help you.

Really looking forward to April 7th when I have to this all over again, NOT!!!

Thanks for your replies, chaps.

Yep, I'm in Somerset, 8009514.

I've had some success with my sister's Humax machine. Reverted to factory settings, as advised, then did a retune. Only trouble is bbc1 Wales is now channel 1 and bbc2 Wales is ch2. Channels 800 and 801 are the beeb1 and 2 that we should have. I can't work out to swap the channel numbers. I've tried everything. Arrrrrrgh.

Still can't get beeb 1 and 2 on my dad's set top box. There is no option in any of the menus to revert back to factory settings or shipping condition or anything like that. Haven't tried the aerial out option yet, mind you. I'll give it a go tomorrow and post back with the outcome.

Thanks again, chaps.

Daveyjay, here's the way of avoiding getting the BBC Wales as chans 1 and 2. Unplug the aerial, commence with autotune / retune. When tuning bar gets half way across ( or a little more) reconnect aerial and let it finish tuning. That should sort it out and get the local BBCs as chan 1 and 2.

Like me you are also receiving broadcasts from the Wenvoe transmitter in South Wales. As those transmissions are at a lower frequency than those from Mendip, they are the ones the freeview box finds first and thus tunes into them. With aerial disconnected to begin with you avoid the reception from Wenvoe.

Good luck.

OK, 8009514, I'll give it a go. These are the kind of things that I would never of thought/known about, so thanks for your expert advice. I'll post back as soon as I've tried all the suggestions (might not be for a few days). Cheers.
