Hi , lookin for some advice from the forum . I have 2 Nexus 7 tablets for my daughters as presents , my question is , do i have to pay seperately for the apps and books for each one or is there a way to get a copy of the book or app onto the other tablet without paying twice. I apologise if this is a very basic understanding of the whole tablet system , but i am totally new

I think if you sign in to both tablets using the same Google account you'll be entitled to load anything you buy on both devices.

At least I hope so, I'm mulling over a Nexus 7 as a Sonos controller and want to load Pinball Arcade on it without having to pay for all the tables again.

Yup. That works. And u can register devices with several accounts so emails etc can be separated. Tho not then in privacy between devices. Works too with Kindle books etc. Nexus 7 is great all be it with limitations. What it does it does well.
