Nexus 4 sounds better than S3?

Reading the latest issue of WHF Jan'13 it is evident that Nexus 4 sound better then S3, but wondering how ! According to specs Nexus 4 has inferior DAC then S3. Wondering if there are others who moved from S3 to Nexus 4 and share the same experience. Also was surprised with verdict that with no battery replacements no sd extension and lower video resolution how Nexus 4 can be prefferred over iphon5 or S3.

Hard to judge different phones - by the time you swap from one phone to the other - you've forgotten what the first sounded like.

What Hifi do take price in to consideration, that may be a strong factor in the Nexus doing so well. Also, Dac is only one element of the audio performance, the original iPad for instance had a Cirrus Dac that wasn't supposed to be as good as some of the Wolfson Dacs used in previous iPods, but the headphone jack was one of the best I have heard on a portable device.

Did you buy an S3 in the end? You've been eyeing it up since release!

Hi Paul, you are right I was almost set on buying S3 when saw the announcement on Nexus 4 and was waiting for specs to be disclosed but was hugely disappointed that with no SD slot, no battery replacement, lower HD and poor battery life and bad lowlight camera performance and on top of all no availability in my area.

When I saw the Jan'13 issue of WHF and saw Nexus 4 wining the supertest in group which consists of HTC, Iphone 5 and S3 I was really surprised so wanted to know what factors contributed it in making the best smart phone of 2012! is just the price and benefit of googls on product in getting the faster updates or in terms of SQ and Video etc were also on par or better then big boys of smart phones.

For me the top priority is SQ and android flexibility (since my move from Iphone to Android, I don't remember ever connecting my phone to PC for transfer of music or other stuffs I just map my NAS and move stuff. I will never ever go to Iphone again)
