You could have your DVD player connected directly to your tv's first HDMI, and your Denon receiver connected to your tv's second HDMI. Then, you can plug a Blu-ray player and HD DVD player into the two HDMIs on your receiver (which acts as a splitter). There, all done. Although, be careful if you want to enjoy full 1080p from your Blu-rays and HD DVDs because the receiver might not have the bandwidth for full 1080p signals to pass through, and you might end up with only 1080i.

If your Denon AVR-3806 is just acting as a video switcher, then it should be able to pass a full 1080p signal from the Blu-ray/HD DVD players to the TV, though it might be worth a quick check with Denon first as I haven't actually tried this myself.
