This one has got me good and proper. I have heard strong and positive comments regarding the Yamaha YSP2200 and as much as I like the concept of surround sound without cluttering a small to medium sized lounge, I am wondering if, for the same money (or perhaps just a touch more) a good amp (Onkyo TX-NR609) paired with a good pair of standmounts (monitor audio BX2 and matching sub)is sonically going to kick the Yamaha from here into next week... I guess the only way to be sure is to demo them both, but then we get into the whole dynamics of room debate... any thoughts that people might have woulkd be very greatly apreciated.

Cheers

The YSP does a great job with surround sound but the stereo performance will be stronger with the Onkyo. With the 609 as a starting point you can go on to make up a complete 5.1 / 7.1 as you see fit.

If you love your movies and dont have the space for the rears the Yamaha is a very very good option.

Hi Nick, thanks for the info... as someone who has experience of both, your help is very gratefully received. Not so sure I want to blow £1000 on something that doesn't hit the mark... but like as not, the moment I go to buy it, I will pass a guitar shop and become the proud owner of yet another Gibson Les Paul.

Thanks
