Soon to buy a new TV with Freeview HD & a BluRay player.

I currently have a stereo hi-fi. I don't really want to go down the home cinema route in terms of speakers and av amp - what I want to know is would I be losing out on anything if I connected my TV/BluRay to my Stereo amp? Would I be losing anything on the sound quality front if I did this instead of using the inbuilt speakers?

Also I will be getting a DAC for my hi-fi shortly - would it be advisable to connect the TV and/or BluRay through the DAC, and if so by what means?

Thanks,

Tom.

Extremely unlikely the inbuilt speakers will be better than your stereo performance (I'm tempted to say impossible, but never say never!).

For the DAC, will depend on exactly which Blu-Ray player you have and which DAC you buy, but again, I'd say it's likely the external DAC will provide better stereo sound. Make sure you set the Blu-Ray player settings to ensure it's outputting stereo.

Thanks for the reply. Will most/all TVs and DVD players have: analogue stereo & optical outputs to connect to a stereo amp or a dac?
