i went fron an RP3 to RP6 and it was an immeditate impovement - so imagine it would be from your P3

but I am sure therw will be others along to tell you to get something else.

However the Rega is simple to set up etc etc

My worry with going to the 6 is that I already have the rega ttpsu and that it would not be that much of a step up

after reading reviews and other forums, but it is one I will demo.

Maybe I also fancy something different, Mitchell Technodec, Thorens

So I've got about £800 to £1000 to spend is it worth replacing my TT and ttpsu for something like rp6 or an other.

All advice welcomed

This may help: http://www.whathifi.com/forum/turntables-and-lps/advice-on-turntables-needed

Cheers I followed it but no one has ever mentioned the tecnodec and also unsure about s/h.

As well as I've already got the rega ttpsu so not sure how much improvement rp6 will be for

the money.Unless anyone knows a decent dealer in Coventry area for s/h mitchels

or clear audio etc. Always fancied an lp12 but would have to be s/h and there is my

problem, don't mind fiddling to setup but don't want one off eBay if you know what I mean.

Go for an Inspire upgrade package for your p3-24. Then add a good phono amp and a moving coil cartridge ;-)

That looks nice and worth investigation cheers

Coventry Dave had a Gyro on a sale a few months ago. He may be able to fill you in on the Tecnodec as well.

Michells are always a good bet. I might consider a Roksan Radius 5 as well if I were you.

Hi Alears,

I was browsing the Origin Live website last night and was thinking what works of beauty their turntables are. I bet your Aurora sounds as good as it looks?

It does that DIB. I can heartily recommend anything Mark produces they are all stunning.

I am thinking of going for an upgrade soon though. Quite fancy the traditional style ...... with a lid! :)

Well when my 6 numbers come up tonight I think Origin will be my first port of call.

Looking at the prices of their full set-ups, I reckon a lid is about as much as I could stretch to at the moment!

I have never bought Origin Live stuff from new, always second hand but again always direct from the Origin Live shop on Ebay. Keep an eye on it because Mark is pretty good at putting up trade-ins and you know they have been fully checked over by him.

Have you decided what plinth? Do you currently have a Rega wall shelf? If so you'll need Robert to put the feet in the correct places.

Hi ordered the full Quest upgrade in Walnut. Don't use a shelf, cheers for the info. Been told it should

be ready by next Thursday then out for delivery. Looking forward to fiting it and then listening.

Never thought I would become a modder, but looking at all the info it looked like a no brainer VFM and

the looks are stunning in all the photos I've seen.

Just a thought. If you're currently getting any ground hum through one of your speakers, which I did, then getting Robert to rewire the tone arm at the same time might be very worthwhile.

The Rega arm grounds through one of the stereo cables. I changed to an Incognito silver wire, which has a separate ground wire to your amp, and my hum completely disappeared.

i also had a real problem with static, which completely disappeared after the Inspire makeover.

+1 for pics please ;-)

Cheers haven't heard a noticeable hum, and I'm doing the upgrade myself.

Will have a close listen, if I hear one will do the tonearm rewire at the same time.

Cheers again dandy your thread was a big help in deciding to go down this route

Excited for you. I wasn't a turntable tweeter, until I really started enjoying vinyl again, and wanted my dream turntable.

I've got far more enjoyment out of the upgrading process (starting from an eBay P3-24) and prefer my Inspired rega to alternatives like the LP12 or the Gyrodec.

Looking forward to it and it'll be nice to have a bespoke turntable

Can't wait to hear the difference
