Hi folks,

A newbie here and I'd like some advice as to the system I'm proposing to put together:

Samsung LE-40M87BD, Sony RDR-HXD1070 500GB, Yamaha YSP-1100 on an ALPHASON AP3 - 3/106 stand.

Unfortunately, the wife won't go for the full 5.1 speaker package so I fancy this as a compromise.

Can anyone suggest anything better?

I'll be using a Onkyo CS515DAB for music (again to keep the wife happy and no, divorce is not an option.... )

Thanks.

If you want a 'soundbar' type speaker, then the Yamaha is the way to go. If you could go to a separate receiver and speakers, then the usual Onkyo TX-SR505/Sony STR-DA1200ES suspects used with the new KEFFiveTwo speakers might look like an interesting prospect.

Do that and you could almost do away with the Onkyo micro, and use the main system for music, too.
