New System Advice

OK - new here so be kind.

I have been trawling the net for ideas for my new system. Think I'll plump for the 42" PZ80 Panasonic plasma (I think these are PY's in Ireland), the Pioneer VS-X1018AH as my AV (whenever that comes out!) and the new BD50 (again whenever it finally arrives in Ireland - spoke to my local Panasonic shop yesterday and they told me that Panasonic have no release date for it in Ireland yet as they are still actively marketing the BD30).

Speakers though. I am looking at either the B&W 600 series or the Monitor RS series but am not sure which will be best. Where I live in Ireland it is virtually impossible to audition both.

Any comments / ideas?

Well, the B&W 685 Home Theatre system is brilliant in my opinion. I haven't heard the Monitor Audio RS package but it certainly got a good rating in WHF.

Thanks. I am looking at 683 floorstanders as my fronts instead of the 685's. I'm auditiioning the Monitors this Saturday as I found a shop in Cork that has them set up for such purposes. The only place I can test the B&W's is in Dublin - and that is too far...

If you think the MAs sound bright... first ask in store how long they have been run in for before you heard them, also, you will want to listen to them for at least 30 minutes or so, my MAs sound bright every time i turn them on, but once they warm up a bit they sound much better. If they still sound bright to your ears, the B&Ws should be better for you.
