Just a quick question about your recent review.

The line "poorer-quality TV broadcasts are done no favours at all by the 7020"

Does this refer to all SD broadcasts ? or just certain ones ?

Not all SD broadcasts, no, but a lot of them (Setanta, Five and ITV1 spring to mind) can be marginal enough to cause some problems. For a broadcaster that exists almost solely on the basis that it shows football, Setanta's broadcast are sometimes laughably poor.

Hi,

I am rather surprised and more than a little disappointed by the poor SD performance - I was expecting great things especially since Samsung has declared their new sets will have their latest and greatest processor and made some tall claims about it's capability - it was supposed to be right up there setting a new standard and apparently cost them over a Billion dollars to develop. If they have spent that much and still cannot produce a decent looking SD performance, then one has to ask if they ever will. One would have thought they would have tested for these things before launching them and if it was not up to expected or acceptable standards and if not, do something about it! Sounds like a Billion dollars wasted to me, on the SD side of things anyway!

I think that broadcasters are at least partly to blame for problems with an SD picture.

ITV football is notoriously bad on SD.

Its not always the fault of the TV if the signal it is getting is pretty bad to start with.

That said, most of my TV viewing is SD (some HD through freesat), so the standard of the SD picture is very important to me, and a TV that can do a good job with SD is my main priority, so maybe thats the samsung off the list !!!

do you carry out game console tests with all new tvs tested ?. i would like to know how these new tv's perform.. e.g any lagging e.t.c
