hi everyone, just had a look at a list of the new samsung 40"s and i am very suprised as to how confusing they look... i mean i remember reading this when Samsung initially announced their new line-up:
Yes, it's ditched its current, confusing model numbers and replaced them with five new numbered series

and from this list i see: LE40A436T1DX, LE40A455C1DX, LE40A457C1DX, LE40A558P3FX, LE40A559P4FX and the LE40A656A1FX...

i mean how how are these less confusing than the old LE40R87BDX, N87, M87 and F86?
thanks :S

I know - they promised us simple model variations between 4-, 5-, 6-, 7- etc series, then the 'A' appears and all these different designations. Maddening.

We'll publish a translation as soon as our group of runic scholars have worked through the range...

Oh no, not again! Clare, Andrew and I have already spent too many hours on the Forums explaining the ins and outs of Samsung's bizarre model-numbering system on their last TV range. Just when we thought they'd got it sorted...

Yes it is - I pointed it out in the mag section and, as stated, that I got an apology from Clare Newsome. I was just being...lippy. :D

Which one will be the most direct replacement for the 46 inch F86?

6 series?

7 Series?

I think your Samsung new sets page is wrong as it says the 7 series in in 40, 42, 52 (not 46?)

I'm thinking of sending my F86 back under the 7 day return (it came with a broken stand). I was thinking of holding out for the 6 or 7 series 46 inch to replace it. I want to get something that is at least as good (i.e. in current terms, F series rather than M series).

Just wanted to know which was the comparable set?? Also, the width of the new 46 inch 6 and 7 series would be VERY useful as my F series was just a bit wide (M series about right),.

Cheers

They were all the sizes given by Samsung at the time - we're due an update from them any day now, so will of course bring you that ASAP, and will specifically ask for full specs if poss.

Thanks Clare.

I only have a few days to ask for a refund on my 46F86, so I'd really appreciate knowing if the 6 series is a direct replacement (looking at the specs)... or is the 7 series more of a match?

Not really sure if the M series is the 5 or 6 in the new, making the F series the 6 or the 7! I'd like something from the new range to be more F than M in quality....

Can anyone who understands the specs give me a guide here, please?! ASAP would help, as I have 3 days to make a decision (keep the F, buy a 6 series, or wait for the 7!)

EDIT:

New Spring 2008 LCD catalogue for Sammy models. It's in Slovak language, but the tables with parameters are understandable

i looked through the link you gave and it looks like they only list their current models, being the R, N, M, F.

This is of acute interest to me. I want a 46" samsung but want to get the Series 7 since they have removed the infofeed RSS etc from the UK release of the Series 6 compared to the US version.

I can see the series 6 on websites from Curry's John Lewis etc already but not the Series .

Is there any indication of the release date for the Series 7?

Thanks
