New receiver changed sound

Since I got my new denon receiver and calibrated it and tweaked it seems some low frequencies are more prominent than others. It seems like it is boosted so much in a couple of places in the low end. Could this be what "normal" sounds like? My room is weird and before some frequencies were a lot louder or quieter in the low end maybe the denon has altered this? As I'm sure it said it does something about room correction or something. Maybe the few odd frequencies were quieter but now louder than before and just sounds new to my ears. Any thoughts?

Use Audessy as a starting point then play with the EQ to get the sound you like. Also play with the sub's settings.

Not everyone's ears are the same and as wel get older our hearing changes. You may be sensitive to some frequencies more than others - I, for example, am not good at high frequencies due to adolescent hearing damage (Motorhead etc. concerts, motorcycling, working with helicopters....)

thats the problem, it all sounds "good" if i have it on reference, or flat i cant tell any difference as i dont remember what it sounded like before changing. what do you mean by sub settings? i have the crossover at 100hz now, and it's +8db.

audyssey is confusing, i could add db to the sub 2 different ways and i dont know which way is best.
