I m about to switch my s550 preorder to Panasonics BD55.

Does anyone know, if the S 550 uses the same NEC Chipset as S350? Or is it a different one?

Thx

Clare Newsome:One does have the edge - and you'll be able to find out which one in our Awards issue, out October 16th.....

Hi!

The BD55 has won the award, so the Panasonic BD55 does have the edge? Sorry for asking, but people living outside the UK have no opportunity to read your outstanding magazine. :(

our magazine is widely available around the world, but admittedly not on the same day as the UK release!

Yes, the Panasonic DMP-BD55 pips the Sony BDP-550 (sorry, Gerrardasnails!) - both sonically and picture-wise it's worth the slight extra cost over the Sony. The Sony's still a great player, though.

No need. I like the fact that my receiver, screen and BD player "talk" to each other as soon as a disc is put in. I'm sure that my eyes would struggle to notice a difference as well.

I'm now going off to sulk!
