I guess it's a case that if they don't charge a fortune to recoup the cost of their top of the line technology, they will never be able to drip down the technology into cheaper lines that penniless skinflints like me can afford.
 
It's competing with Oppo 205 at cheaper price point. It has a dedicated audio power supply, high-performance digital/analogue converter, dual-layer vibration-reducing chassis, newly-developed drive base, 7.1 analogue audio and balanced XLR outputs. If you don't have SACD and DVD-A collection, this may appeal more over the Oppo.

For the vast majority who will connect via HDMI, its cheaper siblings are available to buy.
