New lamps for old....sort of..

Somewhat typically, Sony seems to have informed the nationals of this but not bothered telling the specialist magazines...

In Sony Centres the scheme started on Monday. Trade-in sets can be any size, make and model, and don't even have to be operational. There are some very good deals around, particularly when combined with the package savings offers on blu-ray players or the RHT-G550/RHT-G950 home theatre stands.

Please note this post is intended for information purposes and not advertising - with Sony Centres all being operated by independent retailers it could benefit other companies every bit as much as the one I work for.

UPDATE: We have just - finally - received the press release from Sony's very expensive celebrity PR company.

Beggars belief, really...

it could help to create a lot of jobs too , in sony customer service , if they dont sort out " backlightgate "

Andrew - at least you received the news about the PS3. Another part of Sony's strategy to post some decent sales figures in Q4.

So if I have understood Sony's statement correctly, the offer only applies to "SOME" of their TVs and is upto £150 off (no doubt of their pricer highend models)

Surely with a bit of net-browseing if you were mad enough to buy a TV with backlight issues it would still be cheaper than Sony's offer?

I think found rather than received - AFAIK no official Sony releases yet.
