I change electronic things when they stop working properly or become otherwise unfit for purpose, not because a new, micro-incrementally 'better' one appears.
With the iPhone I wanted a new usb-c cable input to match my IPad for my headphones which is also a usb-c input. I take your point though, these will hopefully last a long time.

I only paid £330 for the iPad too and after trade in I got £16 back, better than the Apple sock for £220!The iPhone 16e was £600 I can’t remember the trade in value though I think £280 and then £320 in total was the bill and now I am all sorted. I will go cheap in the future though knowing how good they are compared to the expensive models.
