new cables and possibly a sonus

Just put an FM aerial on the roof and repatriated my Arcam 280Fm tuner. I need new interconnects to go between the tuner and my aged Delta 90 Amp. Planning a trip to both Superfi and Practical HiFi in manchester this afternoon. They stock Chord and QED cables. I fancy having a go with the chords. Any suggestions on the model that would be best suited for my kit.

Also thinking of joining the sonus fan club, but on the cheap. I have an old Audio Alchemy DAC gathering dust and 2 ipod touches and an Iphone as well as a wired internet connection nearby the Hifi. Can i do this on the cheap with just the unamplified unit?

You could certainly just buy a ZP90 and connect it to the DAC yes, it's still going to cost you near on £300 though. You can get the 2.8.1 controller update for the iPhone/Touch instead of a standard controller as well.

However it's called SonOs.

SonUs is something different.

Does anybody use the Itouch to control their Sonos's?

Does it provide full functionality?

I have a fear that I'd go down non Sonos controller route and like a universal remote the setup/installation options would not be available

The new version provides more functionality but I haven't seen it so I couldn't say exactly how much.

You don't generally do the initial setup with the controller anyway, you'd usually use the PC software to set everything up first going off.

Oh one other thing, do you have a wireless router connected to your internet connection? If not you won't be able to use the iTouch/Phone as a controller, they can't join the wireless network that the Sonos ZonePlayers use and need to connect through your home wireless connection, so if you don't have one of those, you're stuffed.

Yes, all of my Ipods are connected via my home wifi link at the moment. I've found them great for reruns of Top gear whilst in bed on a Sat/Sun morning! The Mrs loves it!

Thanks Daveh75. Went for the chord crimsons and they sound great with my tuner. Only problem is that they make my old heavy duty Audioquest interconnects sound a little dull. looks like I'll have to replace those too!

Good old Practical Hifi in Manchester gave good advice, and I've now gone and ordered a Sonos zoneplayer 90!

Does anybody out there use a DAC with the Sonos?

Will have to get my old audio alchemy DAC out now and buy even more cables!

An optical cable and new interconnects - I'll test out with with my current cables -does anybody have any advice?
