Hello everyone. I've got a TH-37PX80 720P plasma with a BD-35 BD player. I'm looking at the Sony S370 as an upgrade. Only question, is it superior in sound and picture and generally just an 'upgrade'? I really would like more detailed BD images but don't want rid of my trusty PX80.

I think if you can flog the Panny and get the Sony for £100 then yes, it makes sense! You'll see quicker load times, better picture and sound quality although it won't be night and day differences.

My mate wants the Panny, as he's only got limited budget. Id end up spending £20 to upgrade. Even if the picture and sounds 10% better i'll be happy.

Thats what I was thinking. The PX80 stays! Can technology move on that fast that my my old bd35, 5 star player, be beaten in the sound/picture department by 100 quids worth of sony!?

I sold my 18 month old Sony BDP S550 for £80 on eB@y and bought the 370 for £100. It made a HUGE difference... better picture, improved sound, much slimmer unit, faster loading times plus YouTube, iPlayer etc.

Has anyone upgraded a Pioneer bdp-51fd to the Sony bdp-s570. Would this show an improvement? The streaming and faster load times would be a bonus.

Cheers

Sorreltiger:I haven't noticed a huge improvement over the 350...

Really? With my 550 I wondered what all the fuss was about with Blu Ray as was never really that impressed with it all. But on plugging in the 370... wow.

Apparently not much of a differnce in picture on BD35 compared to my DMP-BD80.

Is motion smoother on the Sony S370 compared to the Panny's?

£100 isn't huge but where would i see improvements to picture and sound?

Thanks

Hi all. I got the 370 today, and after the teething problem of managing to send HD codecs to the Denon, (a read of the manual sorted this), it's unbelievable. So much better than the BD35, that even the Missus noticed it and mentioned its picture quality. The colours are more vibrant and sharper. The loading times are superb. I'm not entirely sure the sound quality is much better, but its certainly not worse! I'm quite surprised with the quality of iplayer. I thought it would be pants, but its very good. Thanks to everyone who replied to the thread and gave me the advice as I was very apprehensive of changing. So yeah, the s370 is recommended by me!
