let us know what you think of the 4520 and the aria's.

He has only £1,500 now, not enough for the Arias!

Bretty, I'm very interested to hear in due course what you think of the Denon 4520. How many loudspeakers will you be connecting to it?

i seem to remember he was going to demo the arias and may be purchase later down the line.

Quite right. Somebody's paying attention 🙂

Is there any sense in this as an upgrade path?

Getting a Yamaha 3030, then getting the Yamaha CX-A5000 preamp, when funds allow, and use the 3030 as a power amp?

Technically that is doable, however it doesn't seem very sensible, as you'd be wasting half the 3030, and surely the processing of the 5000 isn't better by the price difference to the 3030. Instead, why not get the 5000 with a high-quality _used and therefore great value-for-money_ multi-channel power amp such as the Rotel RB-985/1075/1095 or the Audiolab 8000X7?

but I always prefer sony,

I've only ever had Sony amps, and I've had people in the past say they're not a patch on some of the other brands. I've been bullish and dismissed them, but recently I've started to think 'what if they're right? Am I missing a trick by sticking with Sony?'. Hence the upcoming change to either Denon or Yamaha.

Thanks for your input. That's definitely food for thought and something that hadn't occurred to me. I quite like it 🙂
