If it sounds as good the rest of the Electrocompaniet range it will be amazing and even though it is not exactly cheap it will be extremely good value and very well sorted !

The Electrocompaniet ECI 6 DS seems to be a serious piece of kit that has a high current powerful amp that will drive almost any speaker made and has everything you could possibly want from a streamer too , I am sure it will make a lot of other well known manufacturers sit up and take notice and maybe even panic a little bit .
The remote control display is a nice touch too , I have a feeling it will sell extremely well and I also have a feeling there will be various alternative versions in the future![]()
Electro said:Yes I think you are probably right it would have made sense to release a separate streamer first followed by the EC1 6 DS
Electro said:Actually I have changed my mind over night about this . The big and probably only problem Electrocompaniet has in the UK is persuading potential customers to put convention to one side for a short period and listen to something a little different to the normal recommended candidates .
Once a potential customer has heard what an Electrocompaniet amplifier can do even for a short demo then the sale is usually assured as long as the customer is a serious buyer ( Yes they are that good) .
So if a customer is looking for a streamer in the EC1 6DS price range and the dealer demos this model with a built in Electrocompaniet amp the customer gets to hear an Electrocompaniet amp at the same time which I believe will open many eyes and ears to just how good they are which can only be good for all involved so maybe Electrocompaniet have done the right thing by releasing the EC1 6DS first .

I still see it differently.
Electrocompaniet is not that widely available and hence not that well known. The most likely customer for the stand alone streamer will come from existing owners, but it is this very customer who will hold off until this becomes available. It will then be their feedback on forums like this that will fuel interest, and cause the 6DS to sell.
There is also the fact that just because the streamer was separate, doesn't preclude it from being demoed along with an Electro amp. I also think that there may be more people looking for a quality streaming source (instead of CDP) to front up their already good system (which they're happy with), than a streamer/amp combined, which is more costly at the outset and is less flexible/more expensive, if future upgrades end up being on the cards.
Of course this is only my view and could be totally wrong.
