Hi all,

I have just purchased a BK electronics Monolith sub which comes with a high level Neutrik speak on cable connector, (3 core). I would like to connect the High level to my power amp speaker terminals for use with 2 channel music, and the low level sub cable to my AV reciever for movies. This I understand from the manual supplied to be the correct way to set up my sub to work with both of my systems.

However,my power amp is set up so that it can be switched between my main pre-amp for 2 channel music and my AV pre outs for movies. This enables me to use my front main speakers for both music and films. A kind of DIY HT bypass if you like.

My question is will this still work? I am concerned that the sub will be receiving a signal from the AV amp during film watching AND a signal from my 2 channel power amp which is controlling/powering my 2 front mains. Any idea if this will be a problem?

thanks, G

If you can set you AV receiver to small speakers and use a crossover of say 80, all bass will be sent to the sub through the low level cable.

You will only get bass through the hi-level if the front speakers are set to large.

If you use a pure direct setting for hi-fi then the hi-level cable will work.

Hope this helps
