Need to back up a blu-ray

My sister sent me some footage of the family and its on a blu-ray disc, do I need just a reader or do I need a writter as well to do this. [😉]

Just a reader, unless you're going to copy it onto another disc. But you'll need software as well since most rippers won't do it by default.

No not making a copy, just need to insured I dont lose it.

Presumably it doesn't have any copy protection on it - in which case you can just convert it to an ISO image.

knowing my sister it probably has a 128bit mi5 incased incription with multi layer changing codes with variable forumulas..LOL

No so should be ok to just convert, seen a Blu-ray for 48.00 new at scan seems cheap enough
