Need New SKY HD Box ?

Hi All,

My modded Thompson HD Box is failing again so I need to purchase a new box / model.

I want one of the new smaller design ones with a 500gb hard drive (plenty for us so don't want the 1tb).

Daft question time - how do I go about ordering one and can I buy the one I want as I do not want a refurb.

Hi,

I also had a Thompson HD box which was playing up after 3 years. I phoned Sky and bought the new 1TB HD box for £249.00. They sent it by courier and let me do the instalation, thus saving the £60.00 call out fee. The new box is a big improvment.

Are you in or out of contract with your existing SKY+ subscription ?. I had a SKY HD box that I bought myself, however I did not have the HD package as I just wanted the additional space on the hard drive to record on for the kids. This box went faulty a couple of months ago, I spoke to SKY and they sent an engineer out to repair. They couldn't therefore they replaced my HD box with a brand new smaller 500Gb version - the total cost of this was £65.00.

Get the HD box if you can (and your TV can support it) but don't take the package as a previous poster said, both BBC HD and ITV HD are free to receive.

PS: I've heard or read somewhere that SKY are replacing faulty SKY+ boxes with HD boxes now FOC.

Complain long and hard enough to Sky and they will do anything to keep your business. I've just had a brand new smaller Amstrad box and a brand new dish FOC.
