need help!!

Hi guys. Ireally want to upgrade my music system to a computer based system using my new ipad2.however as im new to the idea of itunes,spotify,apple lossless and many other terms that i have no idea about I dont really know where to start. is there a past issue of WHF that explains the basics or is there another publication or website (shhhh!! dont mention the competition)that can give me the knowledge I crave to begin my quest for the holy grail of streaming music.I dont really have a set budget as it will be a work in progress but if i said around the £1000 mark its a nice round figure to start.
