Apologies but i am new to this.

I am looking for a new TV with some basic criteria:
  • 37" to 42"
  • £1000 or under
  • Good for SD and in time HD (will get a blu-ray in the next 3 months and sky HD inabout 6-12 months)
  • Doen not need to be good for gaming
  • Good sound quality
Having spent some time in John Lewis over the weekend I think I have a choice of two:

Panasonic - TH42PX80B or Sony KDL40V3000

What I would like to know is:

1 - Should I go for plasma or LCD?

2 - Should I go for the Sony as it is full HD and that is what I will be using it for in the medium/long term?

3 - If I go for the Pani, will I notice the difference between full HD and 720 HD when I do upgrade?

4 -Is there another TV I should consider or is there new one coming out I should wait for?

5 - Is screen burn really an issue for normal use?

Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Many thanks Matt!

Still a bit confused, I looked up the TH42PX80B and TH42PX70B and I see the following:

1080i resolution

1024x768 pixels

Does that mean Full HD?

General rule of thumb for looking at Panasonics: PX = HD ready PZ = FullHD As for the original post, I think the 42PZ80 is going to be available from most retailers for £999, don't know if anyone has got one in stock yet. The 42PZ85 is the better of the 2008 models, and you can get that for as little as £1074 or from John Lewis, price matched against Empire Direct for £1099 and with a free 5 year warranty!! Happy haggling.
