need help and advice with winamp

Hi all,

I ve got all my music collection stored on the laptop using itunes in apple lossless.However, I am keen to swap to wiamp for various reasons(mostly higher playback rate...).I therefore downloaded the latest winamp pro version.I beleive there is an option to import the itune library.By doing so does it improve thew sound going from apple lossless to flac encoding???Or quite the opposite.Should I re rip all my collection in winamp with flac encoding/???Also I did try to import songs from itune library and all tracks/album/artist do appear under library in winamp but when I try to play a track or play a whole album it just flickers thru the list of songs, get no sound and comes up with playback fnished.thanks in advance for any inputs..

I feed the laptop straight into a cyrus pre xpd and 8 power via usb if it makes any difference.

I could be wrong, but i dont think winamp supports Apple Lossless. So if you're trying to play Apple Lossless files that will be why you're getting no joy. You'd need to transcode your files to FLAC (with no change in sound quality) or stick with a player that supports Apple Lossless.

I'm not sure what you mean by higher playback rate. If you think winamp will give you higher quality it won't really...

download winamp essentials plugin to get support for apple lossless + lots of other features.

by higher playback rate i meant downloads as in 24 bit audio playback which itunes does not support.
