Hi all,

I want to upgrade my surround speakers to match my fronts B&W 685's / HTM62.

Here's my dilema, shall i get 2 more 685's or add in the 684's at the front moving 685's to surround.

Atm i'm v. pleased with music via 2.1 with an EPOS ELS Sub.

With the 684's will I not need the sub for stereo and if so will it be weaker than the bookshelf+sub combo?

For movies when I set the sub crossover between 60-80hz does that cancel out any of the benefits of having the floorstanders? i.e. will the only benefits of getting the 684's be with stereo and not 5.1

Note - I don't consider the 686's (may as well get 685)

Thanks.

You might want to mention what amp you have. As you have a sub, floorstanders aren't necessary. That said, I have always had them in my setup for both movies and music.

Sony 1200ES for centre and surrounds. Pre-outs into Pioneer A607R stereo amplifier. Rated at 75watts/CH into 8ohms, enough power to drive the 684's??? I know this amp is probably considered an antique by now (purchased in the last century! (1999)) but it has served me well and I like it. Alot

very clear and crisp with the `Direct' switched on bypassing tone controls.
