Hi Shanka....HAVE A VERY HAPPY 50th!!!!!!!

With your system, I believe you should also consider slightly more expensive Streamers as well.

I think it is the device (ie. not the NAS) that supports Spotify/Napster etc

Hi,

Thanks both for the clarification, thats great.

On streamers I have to be honest I am not sure what the benefit is to me, either SBT or Sonos will be going through the MDAC.

I think at the start of this thread, maybe another, I was very tempted by the M1 Clic, this had a better DAC perfornance to my ears than the MDAC but at double the price and it did not have Spotify ( need to recheck this) I couldn't see how I would use the extra features.

I don't use internet radio, dab ( spotify radio works fine for me and no ads) but I am welcome to any thoughts, I have a feeling you're gonna sneak one in.

If you already own the MDac (sorry my addled brain can't remember), then you are quite correct.....if not (imo) you should get a listen to a good streamer before committing.

Now that the comment is "Sneakyed in", I'm ar$ing out (before I'm chased)!

Hi,

I haven't got the MDAC yet, it was just at the start or the middle of this ,I can't remember, I listened to the main domestic DACs and the MClic, I think during this process I discovered Sonos which moved me away from the streamer option.

Ease of use, flexibility and cost made me think Sonos and now SBT might be better/simpler for me.Sonos via the android app or the SBT touchscreen look a lot easier to access than the Clic screen, esp. as I'm getting older,I don't think I could read it from where I sit and listen.

I think I am giving the ease of use over the hifi aspect,I still think everything should sound fabulous ( apart from the speaker itch ! )

I have just checked MF site and still no Spotify or Android app on the Clic.

I honsetly don't know how I would control the Sneaky (or that cheap Majik I was offered)I am guessing it would be by SBt or laptop.I think I would then be using it as a DAC with less inputs.
I could be wrong and stand to be corrected.

All DSs can be controlled by laptops, ithingys and PDAs. They have no inputs, only a digital out (which is pointless at the cost of them). They can stream spotify, but it's more convoluted (dealer or ripcaster can help).

They major on sound quality (imo. much better than Sonos or SBT), which is why I'm suggesting you get a listen.....ie. just to see what you're giving up.

Hi again,

My hand has been forced by finding someone who let me have a SBT very cheaply if you exclude the price of a few drinks and a curry.

Should hopefully have this weekend and will try to work out what on earth this little box does.

I was edging back towards streamers but thought this was too good a deal to miss and gets my head into the digital streaming world instead of just reading and talking about it.

As I still have not bought my new DAC, still probably the MDAC, and the ripper, still like the look of the Zen ripper over the vortex box although it is £150 more it seems to do more and is easier to use which could be wrong, I feel as I am making progress.

Will try and get spotify on the SBT and see how to get it to play music stored on my laptop, I am intrigued to how it will sound compared with my laptop/dacmagic.

I also realised I don't need multiroom playback and saw the Sonos as overkill, its clever and easy to use but maybe I can access the Nas from my laptop via wifi but I only listen to one thing at a time so don't require the multifunction.

I just have to remember to stay calm, breathe and take my time when I try and set up the SBT, who knows I might enjoy it !! :O
