Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a NAS device with media streaming capabilities. It would be great if it had 2tb of storage to store all my music, photos, films and tv shows (mostly standard definition) that I currently have on my PC.
Obviously it's alot of storage space so I need to be able to easily organise all the media.
It'd be great if it supported a wide range of formats (mkv, mp3 etc) but this isn't essential.
I will be linking the device to my TV (preferably via HDMI) and my router so that I can share the stored media with various devices around the house (in particular a PS3 kept upstairs).
My budget is roughly £200 but can stretch a bit further if necessary.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also does the NAS need to have wireless media streaming capabilities if I'm linking it to my router anyway?

I have already looked at the Lacie Lacinema HD and, although it fulfill most of my criteria, it's had some mixed reviews on Amazon regarding reliability and poor customer support

Thanks all.

I just upgraded to a Netgear ReadyNas ultra 2. Very very speedy (1.8 atom CPU). The built in software streams to PS3, but you can add Orb etc if you like, and it comes with squeezebox server if you're interested. I use it for PS3 and squeezebox. May be over budget tho (I got mine for around £200 but diskless.

I'm not sure if the playon!hd2 acts as a upnp media server.

Might be worth sending a message to their customer support to ask.

Thanks for your replies

sewercat - that sounds interesting but is probably pushing the budget a little

techmad - I might just do that. In the meantime do you know of any other devices that fit the bill?

I'd try the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200. Amazon have them for just under £200 right now. I've got the ix4 and its very good indeed.
