Hi guys,

I currently subscribe to Spotify premium and stream this via an airport to stereo, have just received a mail

pushing napster, how do the 2 compare? there appears to be comparable £10 a month deals though i note you can own

12 songs a month through Napster.

I suppose ultimately sound quality would be the deciding factor, has anyone experienced both?

thanks

For me Spotify Premium sounds the best. I read a really good article with a test of 16 people for a comparison between Spotify and Napster. Six preferred Napster to Spotify 128kbps (free). The six admitted to prefering the bass and 'compressed sound', so they are probably used to low bit rates off mp3 players through basic headphones. For a more hifi sound, you are better off with Spotify. But you may find that you prefer Napster, which is fine as enjoyment of the music is more important than high fidelity.

I have tried both Napster and Spotify Premium over a few months, and have come to the following conclusions:

1: For ultimate sound quality Spotify.

2: For speed and stability, Spotify again.

3: Napster has far superior library functions, and more functionality, closer to say iTunes.

4: Napster is better for price, and for my tastes has a greater selection.

I still buy CD's so I have settled on Spotify Free, which I use to audition albums prior to purchase.

Cheers
