JohnDuncan:SC:Naim, as a company, really are reminding me more and more of Leica as time goes on....

But without the free filters to change the colours of the lights.

Then again, both Naim and Leica have a certain unforgettable character to their respective sound and vision...

Debatable (in the case of Leica) however here is one of my Summicron 50/2 shots...

That's a lovely shot - so atmospheric! What camera were you using? That grain suggests film, but you can't tell these days with Photoshop and the like...

Eddie Pound:Anyway, it looks well-featured, but I reckon it'll cost A LOT.

£1995.

Ooooo....tempting...

Out of date Tri-X film. Voigtlander Bessa R3A + Leitz (Canada) Summicron-M 50mm f/2. Scanned using Nikon Coolscan LS50ED.

I later had an M6 body bought MNIB from London Camera Exchange which I bought for a grand and sold for a grand so my Leica M ownership period was free 🙂

Wow! Forgive my ignorance, but does the film being out of date give it special character? I have a Minolta 9000 as my film camera with a 20/2.8 Zeiss lens Jena Flektagon but I always use Ilford XP2 Super because it is C41 processable. How do you get on with the rangefinder design? I've never tried one, but I love the idea of the new aspect on photography they give! I also had a short dab at the Pentax 6x7, but sold it to fund my Arcam...

Anyway, sorry for the off-topicness folk!

Probably not the place to draw out a lengthy photography chat but thanks for the comments.

Maybe start a thread over in 'off-topic' forum and i'll pop in later.

New ?! Rangefinder ? Not only have the M's been in existence since before you were born, but I personally have probably been using them professionally for as long as you have been around also !

Actually, reminds me, I had a funny moment a month so ago - a repeat of one I've had a good few times now - when on a shopping/visa trip down to Singapore, calling in at a bar for aÿGuinnessÿrefreshment, the 'not quite 20 yr old' bar man leans over and spots one of my beaten up black paint M's hanging off my knee - Wow, he says..What's THAT ?!...Can I have a look...Wow, that's a real antique.....Why you walking around town with that dude, it's ancient..! Can I see the pictures on the back he asks....? Er, no, sorry you can't I explain.....With a look of confusion and wonderment, he finally asks 'Why man....In this digital age, don't you want a modern camera ?'...I reply with the obvious, 'why', to which he explains 'It's so much clearer man !'..........

What was the 6x7 Pentax for Hughes ? Fun ?! I'm not sure XP2 comes in 120, must have been limiting....ÿ

Anyway, back to the er, Uniti.....ÿ

£1995

Cheaper than I expected

🙂

Yep... definitely cheaper than expected... considering it combines a Nait 5i, CD5i, with CD5X DAC, radio and internet tuners, ipod docking, ability to read music from USB devices and stream music... that sounds like a reasonable price.... If I had no audio equipment or was looking to start over, I think the NaimUniti would be at the top of my audition list...

Apologies, couldn't resist...!

As I said, back on to the black box....ÿ
