The limited edition Naim Nait 50 integrated is an homage to the 1983 original – it looks almost identical and mirrors the original's sonic character, but there is an entirely new amplifier design inside.

Absolutely useless at low volume levels due to; 1. The right/left channel imbalance (both headphones and speakers) 2. The way the volume knob operates means the music played is either quiet or too loud, nothing in-between. Plus, as a free of charge extra bonus, some nasty, greasy fingerprints on the front panel, wonderful stuff... Pretty disappointing for a 50th anniversary product if you ask me. Sent it back.

You really bought one and returned it?

Well, you’d not have got much useful pre-purchase info from the review. While the maxim “if you can’t think of anything nice to say…” is useful in social situations, it’s not a review methodology. The “would we buy it over product X” conclusion is a lovely example of compromised reviewing, when the not offending the sensibilities of manufacturers trumps honesty with readers.
