Recently loaned a Naim DVD 5, Sound Great and Picture great in store, but had some sort of earth ground problem when installed at my house so had to go back. Can anyone recomend a DVD player that plays music DVD, Roger Walters, Eagles etc as an alternative to the DVD5.

Arcam DV79 (is that the right number?) is a good CD player as well as stunning video player and I think you can get them for peanuts now. Don't know the number of the FMJ equivalent, but would expect that to be even better.

But for that price, there's always Primare, Meridian, Class‚............

I'd second that. Run an Arcam DV79 myself and although it's getting
on a bit now, it's a cracker with DVDs and more musical than most with
CDs or DVD-Audio discs.

The newer model is the DV139 (£1800), another fine music and movies performer.

I tried the Arcam DV79 but the Naim sounded much better, although the picture quality was a much closer thing. Do you think the latest £500 Pioneer as reviewed in this months mag could give the Naim a run for its money ? or am I living in cloud cuckoo land thinking a £ 500 DVD player can outperform a £ 2500 one.
