Naim DIN leads?

Guys,

When connecting a Naim Cd5i to Cyrus amplification, is there any benefit to buying a DIN to RCA lead to replace an existing RCA to RCA interconnect? The Naim manual says that DIN is the preferred route but it doesn't explain why...unless this is to encourage people to buy matching Naim amps...

It doesn't matter.

As a long standing Naim user I've always preferred to use phono-to-phono when using non-Naim inputs, if there is an available phono input on the amp. But as AE says, it only really matters when using Naim to Naim (din).

It's funny how din inputs must seem prehistoric to today's buyers. Back in about 1970, which AE won't remember, they were the commonest connector. This was when Julian Vereker was starting to design amps. The 'new' RCA connectors were perceived as having poor earth connections, but became more popular as they seemed inherently more robust - it was easy to break the pins on a din plug.

For those of you thinking 'old git', I should say that being young in 1970 did enable me to see Led Zeppelin in a hall with 3000 people - so nerrr.

JohnDuncan:Andrew Everard:No, the differences are only apparent when using a DIN-to-DIN connection - ie Naim player to Naim amp.
What differences?

Naim systems are designed to use a common ground throughout via the din earthing system. Read M Colloms for a full analysis.
