Wow, how's this for holding value? Finally sold my Naim CD5i today, on a non-fee paying site. Buyer came to collect so was able to show it working. I bought it new in 2005 for £825 (ish) and got given £420 for it today!! So less than 50% depreciation in 7 and a half years...

Shows how well built kit can actually be cheaper in the long run. Plus I'm glad it's gone to a good home, despite being genuinely sad to let it go.

Even more pleasing if you bought it second hand in the first place. Bought my nait three years ago and would expect to "lose" about 10-15 percent if I sold it now.

I remember buying my old Nait 5i and CD5i together (demo models) for a total of £1449 in 2009. (10 percent discount from my local Audio-T)

I sold them exactly two years later for £550 and £586 (not including P&P).

My Naim NAT05 tuner was even better. I bought it used for £450 and sold it for £450 :)

Naim n-Sat speakers ... bought used (mint and boxed) for £450 and sold for £420.

Funnily enough.......

done the same with my mint Rega Apollo R - some nice chap took it off my hands for £460 collected so I lost £90 - never looked back either - Synology DS212j direct to my Rega DAC significantly outperforms the Apollo R into my Rega DAC!

I really think people advocating use of a cheap cd/bd player as a transport are really missing out!

The Rega DAC really is something special now being fed a nit perfect signal!

Sonos stuff seems to do well.

If you allow the fact I had a £75 off voucher, I sold my 12 month old S5 for a profit.

I got an unbelievable deal on some brand new MA RS6s and sold them 2 years later for £100 profit. That's a one off though.

Just wanted to bring this back to life after watching a nait 5i go for 450 on eBay. At that rate mine's hardly depreciated in 3 years. Crazy.

I bought a Naim CD3.5, NAC 102 and NAP 140 in 1999 and paid near £3k for the lot.

I sold them in 2010 on fleabay for approx £1300 I think. Not bad for 11 years of pleasure...
